Trailhead
Trailhead is our young adult program for ages 18-22. During the three-week program our young adults will have multiple leadership and team building opportunities including:
- Three days of leadership training on one of the best high and low challenge courses (aka ropes course) in the Pacific Northwest.
- Carrying out a service learning/trail work project within the North Cascades National Park (for which they’ll earn a small daily stipend to be spent on treats like Stehekin Bakery cinnamon rolls or trip souvenirs!).
- Planning, preparing, and co-leading a week-long backpacking expedition.
- Taking a rewarding whitewater trip down the Class III Wenatchee River.
Learning, working, adventuring, and fun are themes of this program.
What do young adults need? Young adults need leadership opportunities, continued communication skill development, empowerment, a chance to build oneself into a sense of community, development of work ethic, and a shot at growing by working as a team member. The program name “Trailhead” came to us when we realized that although our young adults have had many years of life experience, in many ways they are just starting out – they are at the Trailhead of new and novel experiences, and beginning a life milestone that will set the stage for many years to come. We hope to provide a “catalytic event” which will foster a sense of work ethic and continue to develop the crucial ability of being an effective team member by improving communication skills.
